Who Am I?I began training with Randy Walker in the ballet classes held at Central Union Church, Honolulu Hawaii. What Ms. Walker endowed the class with above the perfection of the Cecchetti technique, was the awareness of the beauty of space, and an appreciation of the regal order we each possess. Through her training and some good fortune I was to become part of the Honolulu Civic Ballet productions of “The Nutcracker”, “Coppelia”, and “Gisele”. Each production refined my desire to reach the next level, first in grade and high school; then by obtaining my Bachelor of Arts degree in Dramatic Theater and Literature from
University of Hawaii at Manoa.
After graduating, UH Professor Terence Knapp, renowned for his portral of Belgium priest and leperosy advocate, Father Damien, suggested I attend the American Conservatory Theater Congress [ACT]. My stated objective, when being interviewed for scholarships at the time was, "To become classically trained in Theatre Arts and thereafter have a career performing gaining experience and friends with each contract so upon my return home to Hawaii, I could build a Classical Performance Arts Center with Resident Companies for our local Artists."
After leaving ACT, I headed south to begin the adventure i.e."grabbing the brass ring". Needless to say the entertainment business has many wonderful paths, mine were to include stints both performing and in a business capacity for Walt Disney Company; performing in television, film and stage productions, acting, singing, dancing or directing for Universal Studios, ABC, CBS, HBO and Los Angeles Opera www.laopera.com .
For down times one of my four smart brothers, Patrick at
www.vwtapes.com, taught me Audio Video production skills which lead to experience in sales and the recording, editing and duplication of CD's, DVD's, MP3's in the conference trade show sector. I utilize these skills often.
sent me abroad where I realized a childhood dream training with role models from the Royal Shakespeare Company, LAMDA, Guildhall, etc. some of whom are still mentors.
After working for years in Los Angeles performing, gaining experience and friendships it was time for me to return home to Hawaii and find a niche for my eclectic skills. ....See you at the theatre, Aloha...!
